RetroCopy will be released this Friday. At least that is the current plan. Originally I was hoping to get it out last week but a few things popped up.

However this week has been different, I've gotten a lot of small tasks out of the way that I was putting on the backburner. Credit list, introduction page, small but needed interface features, etc. In fact the first BETA was sent out to one of my testers earlier today and apart from a small glitch at the start it is going pretty well.

So all things considered RetroCopy will be released this Friday. Tomorrow and Friday will be spent going over some small things the private BETA testers have found like some small sound glitches. It is quite a difficult task to get perfect "close to real time" audio when it comes to emulators, simply because sound hardware and drivers on PCs are generally crap.

Vista tried to fix this issue by forcing sound cards to do all the mixing in software, but you still have other issues when it comes to locking sound buffers. Some sound cards just don't report information that is reliable or have issues when you write to the buffer at different spots. At least onboard sound in the last few years has begun to get to at least an OK performance level, RetroCopy has been used exclusively on my machines with onboard Realtek sound cards and they perform pretty good. Though there are new sound drivers every week it seems, so obviously they are trying to fix something in them.

Anyhow let me get to some emulation news. Someone pointed out to me that Power Strike II had glitches in emulators, you can view it here, 50 seconds into the video :-

RetroCopy displays this fine, for what it's worth. But it is the first truly cycle accurate SMS emulator so you would it hope it worked fine! I did notice MEKA also seemed to work fine with it which goes to show you don't NEED cycle accuracy to get it working. However Fusion, Regen and Dega had issues.
