Well it's that time of the year again where everybody wishes each other "seasons greetings". Ho ho ho merry christmas!
It's a little funny that Christmas is so big on the internet when you consider how globalized it apparently is. Most people on the planet are of Asian heritage (about 4.5 billion Asians on Earth with 6.5 billion humans total) and aren't really into it. But you go to your popular websites and see them with their little santa hats and snow, shows they care! Not here though, I guess because I have been doing a lot of actual work.
I wanted to have something released by Christmas but as usual, the deadline was missed. But I do really like what is coming in the next version as it will help people utilize RetroCopy in the manner that was possible from the first versions (but wasn't easy to use).
RetroCopy members will be the first in the world to utilize an entirely integrated emulated game system. So what does this mean? My last job was in a highly competitive/secretive sector so I was trained in not giving out many details in regards to what I was working on. Things change though and so should I, so here is the list (not complete) for next version.
1) Download game covers straight from RetroCopy, just click on a game and get it.
2) New GAME format that has finally reached a level of maturity. Including a complete SMS database.
3) An online database of games RetroCopy supports, combined with the ability to post your stories about them, cheats, etc. Initially this will be SMS only as we are using it as the guide post for the other systems. We are learning a lot and will pass this on to others that want to help.
4) Online integration of games people are playing. I'm not sure how far this will go at the start but games people play will be logged and displayed on the website. Allowing you to sort by most played games, see the games people are playing and things of this nature.
5) Favourite games, users can now select their favourite games by going to the game page in question and selecting it. Show people the games you like the most.
6) Lots of interface changes that people have requested
7) New options, emulation improvements, bug fixes, etc.
And here is a work in progress shot of how the new online game database will look.

So I hope it will be fun for the people here to be part of something new and original. Now go drink a lot and have a fun christmas! I know I will.
My mother used to play these nice guilt ridden Christmas songs (like Do They Know It's Christmas) so that we knew we were lucky! So in that tradition here is one of them.
