You know how I can always tell a release week from a non release week? Some crazy real life stuff always happens on a release week and this one is no different.
So quite a few hours this week have been ripped from me which likely means the release will be pushed back a day or two. However, last night I was working on RetroCopy - tying together logging in, member details, news, things like this when I had a very good idea.
I almost want to start working on it for 0.700 but I won't. I realize with this version it is already way too big from what I originally had planned for it, the feature list just keeps getting bigger and bigger. As such I am going to be releasing 0.700 then following up with a more minor release within a week of it. The minor release will be concentrating on emulation fixes mostly to Genesis and this new feature I thought up last night. It is about time I did releases in smaller chunks I think, it was my goal originally. I think 0.700 will be one of the last massive releases in this way, as it completes a LARGE chunk of what needs to be done to get RetroCopy towards the future I have planned for it.
I am very excited actually, much more so than I have been in a while. When I think about this feature that will be coming soon and the ease with which I can add it, I smile. Finally I'm at the point where I don't have to write 20000 lines of code to do something really fun. That being said 0.700 is still going to be an awesome release (if I do say so myself), the covers, screenshots, stories, cheats just make using RetroCopy that much better. And best of all you don't have to do anything but click on a game to get them. I'm always considerate for the the lazy in all of us.
Also of note is I changed the user reviews recently so you can vote on a score of 1-10 for them, this then contributes to game score. All of you members who can't find the time to post a review yet why not read a few reviews, rank them and give the games you like a thumbs up and the ones you don't a thumbs down. The more people that vote the more realistic the scores will be. Finally, members don't receive any advertisements on the forums now.
