Well today another important feature was added to RetroCopy 0.700 to make it ready for next release. And that is game logging.
If you go to the games page (link up top there) you will find the "most played games" list is now being populated. Basically every time a RetroCopy member plays a game it will record the start time and end time, then the server can display it for ranking purposes among other things.
Now whenever it comes to logging things privacy is of utmost concern, so no user information will be shown about the games you play unless you want it (in the profile section there will be configuration options). What is currently planned is to let others see when they click on your username a list of games you have played recently. Maybe more things will be added as they are thought up (any ideas?)
If you don't want any information to be sent about games played, then you simply don't log in (in RetroCopy), as there is no point in worrying about what non members play!
Another thing I thought I might mention is RetroCopy "encrypts" your username and password before sending it to the server, to ensure anyone that may be snooping the line (usually a worry if you're on a public network) won't be able to decipher it.
I just have a bit more work to do on .GAME conversion and the release is ready, a lot of input related things were also added this week to help fix a problem someone was having with a dual shock controller. The .GAME related work still needing to be done is to stop people from needing original files from 0.700 on, from this point onwards all .GAME files will be recognized and upgraded automatically. So 0.700 will be the last mass conversion you need to do.
I will be very relieved once this release is out because it's taken so much grunt work to do, but sets us up for a good base for easy future updates.
Finally it appears Windowed VSYNC is back in the Catalyst 10.1 drivers, so probably worth upgrading to them if you have ATI hardware. They are a fraction (1-2%) faster than the last ones in RetroCopy.
