Automatic save states

So I'm trying to get releases out on a quicker schedule from now on, which means limiting how many things I work on at once, but today I have a video showing the new automatic save feature in RetroCopy.

Basically when you load a game it checks for an existing time you've played that game, if you have it loads where you left off. Upon exiting a game it saves where you are. Some features missing from RetroCopy like RESET need to be added now, because how else do you get back to the start of the game if this is how it is?

It's quite a fun thing for me these auto saves, because I often have to play the same games over and over, now I actually have progression when I do it and see different stages. :)

Great work Ralph! And it works the same way when you close down RC and start it up again later?

Yes they are saved permanently on your hard drive, unless you want to delete them I guess. :)

Awesome!

How about smart save states? The game would autosave only at important and safe points of the game.

Sounds like a fantastic addition! Still, do you think it would be possible to add manual save stating as well?

@dench - that would be cool in a way, but also cheating. :) It would also require game specific work for each title, not sure if it's worth it vs the time spent to do it.

@Pixel_Crusher - it's possible manual saving will come into this version, depends how busy I get tonight. At the moment I only allow one save state per game so the option would be to just turn off the automatic save and allow you to save and load at points of your choosing into that one state.
