Tommy sent in the near-final database for Sega Game Gear yesterday and I thought I would take a moment to talk about it. The database itself will be used to compile proper GAME files from your Game-Gear rom collections.

A lot of the background work in RetroCopy is done by various helpers, the biggest currently being Tommy. The Game Gear database must have taken about 150-200 hours of Tommy's time to compile. On top of this is the work required to get the covers and screenshots into RetroCopy. It took about 100 hours for me personally to do most of the screenshots for Sega Master System for instance, and probably 200-300 hours for Tommy to do the database for them. You can then add another 100 or so hours on top for all the covers.

In totality there has probably been around 3000 hours currently spent on such stuff in RetroCopy that I can account for. If we assume the people working on it are getting a lowly $20 per hour, that's about $60000 of value. Others such as Sasha have also spent quite a lot of their time tracking down bugs and whatnot in various systems.

In essence there is a lot of background work going on there to let you flip covers in RetroCopy, look at cheats, read reviews, etc. This is my thanks to those people for helping make RetroCopy into something bigger than I could do alone.

A new video is going to be released soon showcasing some of the final 0800 RetroCopy features, and the release is not far away either. The helpers of RetroCopy will be getting a special build with a few more features padded on.
