The next release! Video release that is.

By RetroRalph

So after what has been 3 days of combined fixing RetroCopy and editing videos, the next video is ready for public consumption!

Not everything I wanted to do is in this video, simply because it was becoming too time consuming and the video itself was getting too long. Youtube also complained about a few of the original music tracks I used, so that required some rijigging. Gotta love copyright!

You can work on any level of a building at any time. Though currently if you remove the only supporting beam for say a roof being held up, the roof will fall until it finds a support, or the ground. So you need valid walls and things like that to hold up other things.

I'm sure with some user feedback the editing experience can be improved, I don't think it's at a perfect level yet, though I find it rather easy to construct 99% of things I've wanted at the moment. That house only took about 5-10 minutes to build. Thanks guys!

So no floating platforms? :p

Well it's not 100% realistic in regards to physics, you can have a single column holding up an entire structure. Provided there are objects beneath it will hold up anything! By placing some semi realistic restrictions the world feels a little more real.

That's absolutely fine with me.

I tried to advertise RetroCopy in the off-topic section of the Hyperspin forum, but the thread got deleted. >:( They are jealous.

Thanks Wax, it's appreciated! Yeah you have to be careful about how you do such things as it can come across as spamming in some instances. But the more people that get the word out there the better RC will do.

When something like RetroCopy is talked about on a forum that is mostly about a "competing" product it can annoy the creators of the other product. People are generally hyper sensitive about such things, it's the competitive world we live in.

BTW, the next system I add will be some 16bit arcade system. It will likely be Neogeo, CPS-1, or System 16. Whichever is least time consuming for me to add. SNES is likely going to take 2-4weeks to add and there are other features coming down for 0.900 that I will be spending time on instead. So this is why it has to be something I can add quickly! :)

For snes will you use bsnes core or a personnal core?

RetroRalph wrote:

bsnes suffers from a few design flaws that make it's inclusion into RetroCopy impossible. I think byuu at the time made a decision to do something different for bsnes but looking towards the future it isn't the best choice in my opinion. Basically there are a few things bsnes cannot do (outside of pure emulation) and RetroCopy requires them for some of its features.

It will however be a good source of information, which is what byuu wanted to do with bsnes, create a good reference point for others. And his work on getting some of the finer SNES details out there has to be congratulated also.
