Caught my wife cheating

Luckily it was only in the SMS game Sonic the Hedgehog.

So yes a lot of work has been going on in the past week or so since the last update. Mostly with the new cheat finder, but also some other interface work you may notice if you squint your eyes.

In the below screenshot you can see more closely what you can do with the cheat finder. Basically any number or text you see in a game can now be changed to what you want!

To find where the ring location is in memory, all I did was when I had 0 rings was search for the number 0. Then I got one ring, and filtered those results looking for the value 1. I then got another two rings and filtered those results looking for 3. By this stage there was only 3 locations in memory that had changed and the one highlighted is what stores the ring count for Sonic the Hedgehog. Now all you need to do is change that value and the in game value changes. Neat hey?

But I hear you say, changing the RING count is good but what else can it do? Well how about the team name in California Games? Change the KAWASAKI team to RETROCOP (only 8 letters for a team name unfortunately).

So can values be changed in real time?

Yeah real time, though not all values update in the game in real time.

The team name for instance in California Games isn't redrawn until you die or when you start a level. But if you rename it, from that point on whenever it is drawn it will be whatever you changed it to. Other values like the ring count update immediately. There are also some other fun things you can do which I'll be showing soon.

What if you don't know the value in question? Take a health bar for example, it does not display a number value for that. Is there an option to do an unknown value search with Retrocopy's cheat finder?

There should be a way to do an unknown search. I haven't added it yet, so can't guarantee it. :)
