Did you ever wonder who the Tupac Shakur of the emulator world is? ie Someone who got "gunned" down and yet people still think they are out there, emulating things.
Me neither, because I'm not a dramatic person, but I had you going there didn't I. Anyhow work continues on with the next version, the old "half century" release v0.500B. The two keys thing for this release in my mind are save states and configurable input/options. Yet I haven't even touched these things yet, I don't think they will take too long though, at least I hope. For once I'd like to be able to go "Yes I hit that target of mine", which is this Friday.
Now what have I done so far then, well GameGear emulation has progressed a little bit, I've been playing around with some new released documentation for the SEGA SMS VDP. I've also been working on emulating to some extent the actual GameGear screen. I was blending images to try and create a blur effect but it wasn't really noticeable and I gave up. Instead I worked on a little flickering type display tweak that I think adds to the emulation. When you play any games on the little handheld GameGear screen you will always get this effect, so different TV's have different outputs. If you don't like it don't use the handheld TV to play games on!
I've also been tweaking the game room a bit, I added a new TV, a couch and a coffee table. One of my wives kicked me out of the house you see so I've been moving my stuff into the virtual game room. Oh yes, I also redid the GameGear model a little bit to make it more rounded, even added a back texture for it, which no one will likely see since you can't toss the gamegear around the room when you die (yet...) .
