Work continues on the latest installment of RetroCopy. It's funny with emulation, at the beginning of a new core it's all excitement to see something running, but by the stage I'm at now it's more of a chore.
The reason it starts to become a bit of a chore is because the code base for the core just keeps getting bigger and bigger so you have to remember more things. For instance the VDP (graphics) core of the MegaDrive I have rewritten 3 times now. Simply because I realize after I've done it one way how to optimize it, or a way to clean something up.
But oh well, it is very exciting to see a very vibrant system in RetroCopy. I have to stop myself playing the new games I hadn't seen before. I think I will also be adding a few little cartridge addons like SRAM/EEPROM before I release it, better to do it now while it is all fresh I say. There are still some graphics problems to solve in a few tricky games, but most of the games are working very well already.
This is Street Fighter 2. At one stage I had a trick I could do in RetroCopy to turn Ken into a black face with yellow costume. I simply had to get him on fire then rewind it, I wasn't properly fixing the palette when loading states and it caused a little glitch. Since I fixed that the other day I couldn't recreate it, but it sure looked funny.

And this is another favourite game of mine, Rock n Roll Racing. The SNES version has better sound but the MegaDrive version has roughly the same gameplay and also higher resolution graphics compared to the SNES. One of Blizzard's classics that turned them into the game company they are today.

That's all for today!
