As I said the other day I have been adding a few cartridge addon chips to the genesis emulation in RetroCopy, today you will see one of them, EEPROM, and it's used in NBA JAM.
This game was a personal favourite of mine at the arcade. I loved it! I was into basketball a lot when I was a kid and this game came out right at the peak of the NBA. When I look at the names in the game today I'm like "shame they had to retire", am I that old?
This is a collection of a few screenshots I took. Looks pretty neat if I do say so myself.

Personally out of the SNES/GENESIS ports of this game the SNES wins hands down. However the arcade is clearly the best way to play the game. One thing I wanted to point out is the fact the MEGADRIVE version does not use any form of sprite scaling on the players, which is a shame. The MD/GENESIS didn't have inbuilt scaling hardware, granted, however it is easily possible to simulate it by using multiple sprites, I'm really surprised they didn't do it, as it would have made this port a MUCH better version with more of the look of the arcade game. Maybe the development team was rushed or had limited ROM space, I'm not sure. It was certainly possible to get it much closer to the arcade version than we ended up with, so I consider it a bit of a shame.
Another interesting fact is the author of KEGA FUSION, Steve Snake, helped developed the Genesis port of the NBA JAM Tournament Edition. The world is small no?
