Tommy, One of RetroCopy's BETA testers suggested the GAME format should provide native names for games for those that are interesed in such things (usually non english speakers). So the next version of the format will be including this.
Part of what will be coming in the next version is improved GAME format maturity. This should be the last change to the main headers in the GAME format, therefore making it a stable format and something I will have to support going forward (which isn't such a bad thing). I don't think it will be too much work, basically it means if I do change something that all your existing GAME files will still work and/or be converted. I'm sure some of the long term RetroCopy users are probably sick of having to re-convert games every version.

This is the Japanese name for the game WonderBoy for instance. I'm still not certain on how to display this information in RetroCopy, but nevertheless it's only right it be there since it is name related. Now what constitutes a "native name". Well for a lot of Japanese/foreign games they have translated English like names usually based off the original name, but they aren't the same. Because English is the world language nearly everyone refers to these games by their English translations but in essence the games have 2 names. So if a game originated from Japan/Korea/Europe and has a non english name as it's first name, that is what the native name will show. RetroCopy will always show the english name by default though.
To support such "foreign" characters you need fonts that have the right "glyphs" in them. These font files are usually many megabytes in size compared to english only fonts. For instance MS Arial UNICODE is 24MB while the regular Arial is 0.7MB. Due to this I won't be bundling in UNICODE fonts as some default option for the main build, but instead I may offer a separate version or simply require people to put in a unicode font into the RetroCopy directory.
Some other features coming in the format include the ability to determine between :- LICENSED, UNLICENSED, HACKS, TRANSLATIONS, HOMEBREW, etc. RetroCopy will show these differently in the list to make it clear.
