Is this in combination to normal SMS box releases or exclusively in cardboard?

Many of these games were released in both cardboard and (later) normal SMS box. I will have to make a list later of which of these games were released exclusively in cardboard, and which were released in both cardboard and normal SMS box.

Actually we at Sega-Brasil forums already managed to compile a pretty (cycle?) accurate list regarding all of the Tec Toy releases in Brazil, along with photographic evidence (not scans, for this matter). You can take a look here:

There are bits of Portuguese you may not get, so:
. papelão = cardboard
. plástica = plastic
. quadrados grandes = big squares
. quadrados pequenos = small squares
. branca = white
. azul = blue

Thanks for those very good lists! The only cardboard game I was missing was Global Defense, so now I have them all. The reason why I'm so interested in Brazilian cardboard games will be revealed in RetroCopy soon... :)

And speaking about that - what size are these cardboard boxes? Would it be possible for you to measure them? Height, length and width... Eventually, we will also like to get some scanning help from you guys in Brazil. I will come back with a list of covers we need help scanning.

And by the way: What does those letters on the Brazilian boxes mean? A, B, C and D?

Unfortunately I can't give you those dimensions right now... I'll try to have that soon.

Regarding the letters, they referred to the price of the game; the higher the letter, the higher the price. This was due to high inflation levels we had in the country at that time (before 1994). On the SMS they went up to E, with only Phantasy Star and Ultima IV featuring that letter (as far as we know).

Isnt it weird they released them in two different formats? I dont know why they would do that, if they can make the plastic SMS cases that people love shouldnt they just have stuck with them?

Well, they started out with cardboard boxes and only later, at some point, they decided to go with plastic boxes -- we don't know if they realized it was cheaper this way or if they had lots of complaints about the cardboard boxes. So it's not like they could or wanted to do plastic boxes from the beginning, I suppose; hence the different releases.

Regarding the dimensions of the cardboard boxes, they are 12,5cm x 17cm x 2cm.
