I asked RetroRalph if he would like to have some translations of those back cover texts from Tec Toy exclusive titles so he could improve the description field of some of them on the database; he then suggested I created a thread to see if more people could help with this. So, are there any other Portuguese-speaking members around the forums that would be willing to help...? I understand those texts are usually lame but the idea is to simply summarize them a bit.

Fadware speaks portugese I think so he might want to help out, he has posted a lot of reviews already. I like this idea because some of the SMS games are Brazil only and no one really knows what they are about at the moment.

I help. I have a lot o Master System games with the original TEC TOY boxes. I will make a list of the games to post here. Is very cool to know that other Brazilian is participating on the forum.

My reviews of the games that were launched in Brazil with different names like "Jogos de Verão" will be the same as the English version, but, in Portuguese.

Just post them in here along with the game name and Tommy or myself will change the database to match it. Thanks guys!

OK, so just to clarify, the idea is to tackle only those games exclusive to Brazil -- i.e. games with only a different title (Nuclear Creature, Shapes and Columns, Super Futebol, Jogos de Verão, etc) don't fit here since they're essentially the same games as those released throughout the world. Anyway, there are some Tec Toy exclusives with good descriptions on the database already; still, I think we should translate their texts as well and then leave it to RetroRalph or tommy1983 to decide what is best for each case.

I'll put up a list in the first post with the "to-do" games. Whenever someone is intending to translate one or more titles they should post the games' names on a new post and then edit it when the translation is done.

My opinion on that is that as long as we have a seperate entry for Nuclear Creature and Shapes and Columns, it's no problem also having a different description for these games from the European/American versions. But I guess the TecToy exclusive should be prioritized.



Thanks for that! I've changed it both in the online and offline database (which the next version of RetroCopy will use). I guess the error came from looking at the names SMSPower use in their scan section. They have "Jogos Olympícos", and I didn't notice the cover said something else.

I'm going to have to dock your pay for that mistake!

Slightly related to this, I fixed an issue in RetroCopy the other day which wouldn't let the few extra Portugese (and other roman like language) characters from displaying properly in RetroCopy. We don't want to use any of these for the filenames because some file systems don't like UNICODE however displaying them in other areas (like game list) is something that will happen eventually.

At some stage though I will have to add support for loading the larger unicode fonts for the people that want to see real Japanese/Korean/Chinese names too.

Guys, i think that the text should be in Portuguese on the database, since this games are original (USA/EURO) games modifications.

If you want, i will no longer post the text in Portuguese and will translate the already posted texts.

Good job, FadWare; however I don't think the texts should be in Portuguese on the database. If it is possible to have more than one description there then adding a Portuguese version should be fine, though. I'll start posting some translations soon.

BAKU BAKU

The Royal Zoo is looking for a new janitor to take care of the animals. In order to receive such an honor, you will be tested! Your job is to distribute to the various animals their favorite food: bananas to the monkeys, carrots to the rabbits, etc. But be quick... if the animals get hungry, their meal could be YOU!


CASTELO RÁ-TIM-BUM (just made some corrections to the current text on the database)

Pedro, Biba and Zequinha arrive at the castle and are about to enter until the doorman tells them to provide the password for the day, as this is the only way to enter such a wonderful world full of surprises. Once inside, Zequinha moves away from his friends, having fun by himself inspecting the inventions of Dr. Victor. All that discovering and playing made him thirsty, as he goes into the kitchen and finds a jar of grape juice on the top of the table there. Without thinking twice, he fills a cup and take a big gulp... but the content of the jar was not grape juice! It was a potion invented by Dr. Victor that transformed Zequinha into a baby! You have been invited to solve the problem immediately. The antidote to correct this problem can be created with four rare ingredients. Playing as Biba or Pedro, you can help to find these four ingredients to make Zequinha get back to normal before everyone loses their patience with all that crying!


CHAPOLIM X DRÁCULA

Transilvania's vampire population has increased a lot and there isn't human blood for all of them anymore. To solve this demographic problem here it comes Chapolim, the funniest super-hero on TV. He will have to eliminate vampires on several haunted castles. Bats, mummies, monsters and ghosts will try to benefit from his nobility but Chapolim will have his hammer, secret passages and his thoroughly calculated moves to eliminate them and succeed on his mission.


DYNAMITE HEADDY

Dynamite Headdy is in danger! Dark Demon is willing to transform everybody in the world into demonic servants. If you just give Dynamite a little hand it might not help much, but if you use your head...
No weapon changing. What about head changing? There are several models available which provide our little hero with more power, including the Vacuum Head, which can suck up your enemies, and the Hammer Head, which provides you with extra power to hit your enemies. And Dynamite isn't alone on this mission: he's helped out by Bean, which gives him directions and point out enemies' weaknesses, by HeadCase, which carries a box containing extra powers for the neediest hours and many others. Have fun with six fantastic levels with scenarios which will lead you to surprising endings!


Note: after comparing some descriptions on the database with the original texts in Portuguese I notice they already match pretty well, so there was no need to translate anything.
