Look what i found in a store here in Brazil.

TEC TOY has launched a new version of Master System, and they had named it Master System Evolution. It has 132 built in games. The most amazing is that Master System is being displayed in front of Play 3 and Xbox 360. I must say that it is a funny image.

Also, TEC TOY launched a new version of Mega Drive and a new version of Nomad (MD portable), both with several built in games. I do not if this new Master System or Mega Drive consoles supports the use of the original cartridges. But is amazing to see those kind of stuff launched today.

One more thing: Don't ask me why those joysticks have 6 buttons and a Start button.

If you want to know more about this consoles and check the game list in them, go to: http://www.tectoy.com.br/

PS. the site is in PT-BR

A lot of companies are bringing out stuff like this lately. For instance, Blaze have released a handheld Megadrive with 20 built in games. It also has TV-Out to play on the big screen.

And their handheld Master System with 30 games.

Haven't Tectoy done this several times during the last few years? Rerelasing the Master System in various shapes and under various names, milking more money out of it. I see they also have a joystick with 30 Master System games inside the joystick, which you can plug straight into a TV.

When looking at those 132 games, the thing that's interesting is that some of them are actually new games (the ones that doesn't have a TM on them in this list, except for a few "old" Tectoy-games, like 20 em 1):

20 em 1 (20 jogos)

Are those air vents on the back of the SMS? All the heat generated from the 5W CPU I guess! ;)

Another interesting thing are most of those games seem to be Sega developed ones, maybe other companies weren't interested in selling off the games. Where is Alf for instance, Brazilians are missing out on that classic.

I like the look of this new Master System very sleek looking. Are there any SMS games which use a 6 button controller or is that just for looks?

I do not know if those games are really new Master System games, TEC TOY is full of imagination. I will try to buy this console on the next weekend and see what are those games.

Sorry Ralph, but, i am not a fan of Alf, and i don't think its a "missing classic". :) Now really, a missing classic is Phantasy Star, since TEC TOY launched this great classic translated to Portuguese.

All of those "new" games are just as rubbish as the 20-em-1 ones; some of them are heavily based on old Atari 2600 classics, although a bit more polished.

Regarding the 6-button controller it became the default one for their Master System and Mega Drive versions a few years ago. I believe they did that just to standardize the production so they wouldn't have to make two different types of controllers, since the 6-button model works just fine on the Master System. Apart from a few games that don't like 6-button controllers, that is.
