Well, ChipAmp uses Winamp sound engine.

foobar2000 with another plugin format, which not compatible with Chipamp.

In chipamp i found very old plugins, authors maybe never update to newest versions, and this is main problem for port.

I have an MP3 player I made a few years ago utilizing an earlier version of the RetroCopy GUI. RetroCopy actually has all the components needed to make a complete MP3 player in the vein of ITUNES (but without the bloat) and likely increased quality (the "Holy Shit" resampling filter). I should get around to it one day... RetroAMP. ;) . In v0.800 you can play MP3 tunes using the libavcodec libraries which is pretty much just as good anyhow.

I've never been happy with the statistics logging in WINAMP or ITUNES, I prefer knowing how many songs I've listened to, and being able to create playlists from my most played songs and things of this nature. Whilst ITUNES and WINAMP have some basic features like this they are a bit limited (WINAMP will say you've listened to a song even if you only hear 2 seconds of it). And ITunes installs what seems like 50 spyware type apps on your system and utilizes over 120MB of memory just to play a song.
