Since SMS and SG/SC are emulated so perfectly...

It seems only logical to add Colecovision support to the emulator, no? The hardware between the Colecovision (and MSX btw) is very similar to the SMS in most respects. Most people I know who were working on SMS emulators were able to add Colecovision support with very little effort. Just a heads up and a little hope ;)

From a core perspective you are right. However unlike other emulators RetroCopy has a very distinct feeling for every console so it does take a little in that regard to add a new system. And perhaps the biggest challenge is the game database for the system.

But yeah it will be added soon most likely.

It's not just that, but there are some other aspects of the Coleco to bear in mind. For one, there's the twelve-key keypad on the controllers. Then there's the roller controller (for Slither), Super Action Controllers (for games that support them), and the Driving Module (for Turbo). So to just get started on that system, Ralph would have quite a task ahead.

Well compared to other systems the tasks for Coleco isn't so large, but yeah, it also isn't a copy-paste job either. :)

At least noone has requested to include Adam computer emulation yet.

Computer systems will be fairly simple to add once SC-3000 is 100% done. I've already done some work to support systems which can support multiple loading of software, such as through tapes/disks and whatnot, and v0.970 which should be out within a week is further progressing that.

I was surprised really how quickly SC-3000 came together now that most of the hard stuff is done in RC (such as the input system). Though C64 is probably the sexiest of all the computer systems to add, Adam is a bit obscure, as is SC-3000 even. :P

I was thinking of breaking up RC into two emulators to support computer systems vs consoles, but I can probably address this by letting users select which systems they want to see in RC, rather than showing all of them, many of which they likely have no interest in.

Intriguing idea. The thing that concerns me about the Coleco (and moreso the ADAM) is the ADAM's hardware. In addition to the keyboard (on top of two joysticks with two fire buttons and 12-button keypads), there's also the disk drives, and the cassette-like datapack drives. I think even an X-Arcade would have a hard time fitting all those buttons onto a dual-stick setup.

I hope you don't...

This is better than your previous idea ;) ;)

+1 vote for Colecovision, it's an amazing system

I wouldn't mind Adam support :D ha ha, it's not a priority but it all fits together nicely

and yes. They aren't well known in the US, but the MSX and PC88 computers had some seriously kick ass games for them and were both Z80 based computers.

More advanced systems in the future would be X68000, FM Towns, and Amiga

I'm sure ralph wants to focus mostly on stuff people will actually use and enjoy, and for all users that logon, he can see how many people are playing which system right?

It makes your head spin when you start to think of all the different machines like Atari 400 and 800 PCs, Atari ST, Commodore 64, etc.
