No he wont, he isn't in the USA, so it wont apply to him, even if his server is he can move it, and this stop on-line piracy act will not effect retrocopy anyway, its not pirating any of the games that can be played on it, you have to get those yourself

I don't think SOPA stops people from doing their own dumps. I happen to know a device that can allow people to create dumps from cartridges they own.

The problem with this SOPA thing though is that big companies don't have to take into consideration what is legal and not, as far as I can tell. Big companies can make internet ban you just because they don't like you, even though you have done nothing wrong. Nintendo is one of those companies. They are already listed as one of those companies that support SOPA, and they have their own site with all sorts of anti-piracy stuff going on and on about how they consider all emulators to be illegal and how it is illegal to make personal copies of their games etc. Of course they are wrong, but I bet they have a hundred lawyers who can convince some judge somewhere they are right.

No wonder I like Sega much better than Nintendo. :)

Well, if that isn't the pot calling the kettle black. Nintendo's not just emulating their own consoles, but the PC Engine TG16, C64, Master System, and the Mega Drive with the Virtual Console. They really need to stop throw stones in that glass house they're living in, if you know what I mean.

Nintendo are assholes, they were using PS3 and xbox360 graphics from games to show how good their next gen console was, and got busted on it.

All this law will do is drive things underground like they used to be back in the days of the BBS boards, You block one site, and the stuff you are looking for will appear and 10 sites, just goes to show these companies never learn, just look at the RIAA and MPAA.

Is this law still likely to go through? Seems like theres a lot of backlash.

Mmmm something to look forward to then :P

As to the RetroCopy server we abide by all the same rules as big sites like gamespot, wikipedia, etc do. So we shouldn't be affected, I've always made it clear to keep that "illegal stuff" away from RetroCopy hosting.

It's more sites like smspower and such which may be affected.

I invite you to live in Turkey at this point. Everything is free here (yet), there is law but they do not carry it out about pirating. How could they know it anyway? How could they know whether I use licensed game or not? They can't check the whole country's computers one by one, right? Or does the 'SOPA law' apply to the uploaders only?

What do you think about freemasonry by the way (well maybe it's wrong section to talk about it here hehe)
