I want to know if RetroCopy supports the NES Zapper?
And if it does'nt will it ever be implemented?

Nope not yet. I did support the SMS lightgun in the first version but I removed support for it once the 3D world came about. The reason for this is something needs to change as to how lightgun games are done in a 3D world.

I don't really think anyone actually uses the lightgun games very much because they are ridiculously easy with a mouse. So I do want to do some kind of 3D environment lightgun type interaction, maybe with a bit of a wobbly call of duty type aim. Eventually I'll get around to supporting the mouse in fullscreen mode how typical emulators do it too.

You could make it so that it uses a Wii Remote, i think that would work quite well.

Can you use these on PC easily?

Yes, simply connect it the way you connect normal bluetooth devices.
But you need a software such as GlovePie to actuelly make it do something.
I can play Retrocopy with a Wii Remote with simple key mapping XD

Cool, I may have to get one then and have a play some time. That certainly does open up some interesting possibilities.

Wiimote.Led1 = true
mouse.x = wiimote.PointerX
mouse.y = wiimote.PointerY
mouse.LeftButton = Wiimote.B

That should get the job done.

It turns on LED 1
Makes the wiimote ir sensor into mouse movement (You need a wired sensor bar + a Wii) or (a wireless sensor bar on batteries)
Turns the B button into the left mouse button

yeah I've suggested this to other emulator authors, so that lightgun games are like using the real thing.

I still have my SNES super scope and it'd rock to mount my wii remote on that and use it to do lightgun games.

Even having a mouse mode that you can disable the graphical reticle and reenable it so on rapid fire games you could turn the reticle off once you get the hang of where it is.

In the next version (or the next one after that) I'm going to allow joystick/other movement to control the interface also. So that would be a cool thing to do with the WII remote on your couch. I want to make RetroCopy very HTPC/cabinet friendly since I want to use it on mine eventually.

Though it may require a separate "large layout" them to work well from a distance for some of the current smaller GUI items.

It would be neat to be holding the Zapper "FPS" style and you could press a button to go into an "aim mode" with a narrower point of view like it's done in FPSs. Ex: Left Mouse Button = "Fire" Right = "Aim"

I did a bit of looking into this, and you don't actually need the sensor bar. Two candles will suffice! This is because the wiimotes IR sensor picks up the IR light from the sensor bar, and uses the distances between them, and their angle in relation to the wiimote to get a fairly accurate reading of its position in relation to the tv.

Yay Wikipedia!
