California Games (SMS) Reviews and User Stories

California Games was my first cartridge for Master System. Me and my brother had to wait for our parents go sleep and then we could sneak out various nights and play this game. No one could defeat us. I gained my second game only six months later, so we became specialized in California Games.

One crazy thing to mention, is that my little brother always followed the boy in halfpipe with the joystick in front of the television.

I never owned this game but a cousin did. Every time we visited all of us would gather around the Master System , plug in California Games, spend 15 minutes entering our witty names one by one and then try to be the best. The problem with games that require you to take turns is that your cousins are free to try and put you off your game. Pulling faces, clapping hands in front of your face, throwing things at you, whatever it took for the victory. They tried it all to put me off but I still kicked their ass.

The best minigame in this is the BMX especially when you get the upgrade for it that allows you to jump higher. The worst game is probably the hackysack as it takes too long when youre playing multiplayer.

Like the others who have reviewed this title, back in the day I used to play this game with my cousins, it was not until many years later that I purchased this and added it to my own collection.

The best mini game is by far Flying Disk. Getting the running right catch aint too hard but go for the running left catch, that is a little more tricky!

Even to this day we still have fun taking it in turns on the computer as myself and my brother try to beat each others scores! If you don't own this title on a real system or haven't got it on emulator then you are missing out on some serious fun. Do yourself a favour and get this game immediately!

The other day my friend and I tried playing this game and wow we had no idea how to play, but once we got the hang of getting the guy to skate back and forth without falling it was exciting!! It made me wish that i owned a SEGA when i was a kid when i would of enjoyed it more but its still a fun game to try out!
