F1 (SMS) Reviews and User Stories

I got this game from my parents who had been in England for a weekend when I was young, and being the Sega Master System fanatic I was, this of course was the perfect present for me. I didn't own any racing games prior to this either, so I was very excited to play this game.

And F1 didn't disappoint me. You get what you think you will get - a F1 racing game with formula 1 cars, real tracks in various countries, real opponents (like Michael Schumacher), scores according to how you place in the races and a full season of formula one fun! It's the small, unique things that really makes this game stand out though, compared to other racing games for the Master System, like "World Grand Prix". How you set up your car really matters, and it varies from course to course what the best way to set up the car is. "What type of engine should I choose for this track?" Questions like that matter. And the other cool thing is that you can damage your car while you drive, so you have to make a pit stop, just like in real formula one. This will take some seconds though, so sometimes you have to decide if the best thing really is to stop, or if you should just continue, hoping you'll be able to finish that last round with no opponents passing you, even though it's much more difficult to control your car in turns.

You are also able to qualify for each race (giving you the advantage of starting in pole position), or just skip the qualification by pressing PAUSE and selecting "race". Which is good, as driving all the qualifications can be a bit tedious. Of course a game like this is a bit repetetive, but the competition against the other drivers makes you forget that. Every point counts if you want to win the world championship!
